The 2020 collection of knit and woven developments includes an innovative range of fabrics with unique aesthetics created through garment finishing, printing, engineered constructions, unique yarns, Cotton Incorporated finishing technologies, and sustainability focused fabrics.
Performance is achieved through blends, construction, and finishing. Cotton and wool provide thermal properties and comfort in natural performance fabrics. Cotton blended with manmade fibers enables lighter weights, contrast dyeing effects, stretch, and technical hand feel. Manipulating textile structures can enhance air permeability, insulation, and other factors that affect environmental comfort. Engineered structural placement in knitwear with cotton stretch instills a sporty look and feel for the athleisure market. Dual finishes combine Cotton Incorporated’s technologies for increased levels of performance in knit and woven fabrics.
The collection also includes a variety of knit and woven developments with unique constructions and color play. Woven substrates are enhanced with shadow dyeing, embroidery embellishment, digital printing and laser design. Knit fabrics include zig-zag textural plating, digital printing, and unusual sinker loop terries. Yarn effects incorporate cabled yarns, cotton/hemp blends, double covered yarns, jaspé novelty twist yarns, and metallic yarns.
Sustainability focused developments with eco-minded textile processes offer the potential to reduce chemicals, water, and energy use. As an alternative to 100% synthetic fleece, cotton rich options serve as a step towards an all-natural solution. Knit to shape shoe uppers in 100% cotton are a natural choice with minimal yarn waste. Cotton biomass-based dyes and NoStone™ garment finishing offer alternative processing to traditional methods without compromising fashion. A new technology of dyeing indigo for jeans using a foam dyeing process offers a reduced water alternative to traditional indigo methods.
