Senior Director, Agricultural & Environmental Research
Ed Barnes is Senior Director of Agricultural & Environmental Research at Cotton Incorporated. In this role, he manages agricultural engineering related projects, including ginning, precision farming, irrigation, and conservation tillage system research. Over the course of his career he has authored or co-authored over 50 technical publications, received two USDA certificates of merit, and served on the Editorial Board of Agricultural Water Management.
Barnes’ career at Cotton Incorporated began in 2002. Previously, he was Director of Agricultural Research. Prior to his work at Cotton Incorporated, Barnes spent seven years as an Agricultural Engineer for the USDA, Agricultural Research Service at the U.S. Water Conservation Laboratory in Phoenix AZ developing applications of remotely sensed data for agricultural management. He received a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree from North Carolina State University in Biological and Agricultural Engineering, and a Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University in Biosystems Engineering.
