Fashion Marketing Internship Program
Cotton Incorporated is proud to offer unique opportunities to student interns interested in textiles and trend forecasting. The Fashion Marketing internship is located at Cotton Incorporated’s New York office, which acts as the Consumer Marketing headquarters of the organization, providing student interns a unique environment to learn, participate, and collaborate with industry professionals on various projects.
The Fashion Marketing (FM) internship at Cotton Incorporated enables students to expand their skills and experience in preparation for a career in the fashion and textile industry. The internship position offered is extremely diverse, involving both the technical and creative aspects of the business. Fashion Marketing interns participate in seasonal trend forecasting and market specific projects. The internship experience provides a dynamic setting to gain knowledge of fashion trend presentations geared towards mills, manufacturers, and designers for the women’s, men’s, youth, denim and active markets.
Job Description:
- Collaborate with Fashion Marketing staff on major trend forecast concepts
- Assist Fashion Marketing staff with all aspects of production of forecasting materials
- Take mood, stylized fabric, and street scene photography
- Photograph/catalog fabric and silhouette samples
- Cut, label, and assemble fabric swatches for client distribution
- Conduct independent market research
- Perform clerical duties
Eligibility:
- Must reside or attend school in NYC (or metropolitan NYC area) or relocate to NYC (no relocation reimbursement provided)
- Must be presently enrolled in school and have Junior or Senior college-level student status
- Must be available to work 3-4 days per week (approximately 20-28 hours per week)
- Must have at least 2 prior internships; or equitable work experience in fashion, creative, textile or retail (retail must be fashion-related and must have additional related experience)
Qualifications:
- Must have some textile construction knowledge; able to differentiate between wovens and knits
- Relevant college coursework required (fashion merchandising, marketing, textile or fashion design)
- Must have excellent phone and communication skills
- School schedule must be available upon interview
- Must be highly proficient in Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
- Must be able to multi-task and prioritize efficiently
Internships are available throughout the year during the Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters. Upcoming application deadlines are as follows:
