Regional Breeders Testing Network

Launch WebsiteMany of the varieties identified for increase are evaluated in a testing program, the Regional Breeders Testing Network, which is a collaborative effort to test publically developed varieties at sites across the entire Cotton Belt. One recent success is UA48, a conventional variety release from the University of Arkansas that delivers exceptional fiber quality in an early maturity, stable yielding background. Additional high yielding varieties developed in the RBTN program include GA230, LA17, and LA35. Other objectives of the RBTN effort include field screening to identify germplasm tolerant to heat and water stresses plus resistance to Verticillium dahliae and Fusarium oxysporum
