Cotton's "My Shopping Confession Is….."

Cotton Incorporated Brings Confessions of a Shopaholic Experience to Mall Visitors

New York, NY

In conjunction with the theatrical release of Confessions of a Shopaholic from Touchstone Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films, Cotton Incorporated asks consumers around the U.S. to put their purchases down for a brief moment and reveal their own personal shopping confessions. Cotton wants consumers to channel the lead character in the film, Rebecca Bloomwood, and divulge the details on their love of shopping and their favorite fashions.

Between January 26th and February 15th, Cotton Incorporated’s “My Shopping Confession Is…” events will be held every Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5pm at participating mall groups. Shoppers will be greeted by a three-member Cotton Team, dressed in branded pink cotton t-shirts bearing the program tagline – PRETTY. SMART. SHOPPING. SHOP RESPONSIBLY. The Cotton Team will be giving away oversized cotton tote bags inspired by Rebecca’s style. Event participants will design their shopping confession on the tote bag’s customizable hangtag. Then, standing in front of an 8’ tall red Confessions of a Shopaholic shopping bag, participants will be video-recorded as they reveal their shopping confession. Out of 9,000 total video confessions, five will be selected to be posted on for Cotton’s “My Shopping Confession Is…” video contest. The videos will be judged based on content, delivery and creativity. The five finalists will win a Cotton Incorporated prize package including a video camera and cotton merchandise. From March 9th to 27th, website visitors will have the chance to vote for their favorite video confession. The finalist whose video confession receives the most votes will be awarded with a $500 American Express gift card for a cotton shopping spree.

“Our extensive promotional campaign in support of Confessions of a Shopaholic is a great way for Cotton Incorporated to speak to consumers about the fabulous fashionable aspects of cotton clothing,” explains Paula G. Rosario, Vice President Consumer Marketing – Strategic Alliances, Cotton Incorporated. “These events around the country afford consumers the opportunity to express themselves, share their personal love of shopping and have some fun, even in these tough economic times,” says Rosario.

During the three week event, shoppers will also be rewarded for making cotton purchases. Consumers will receive a $20 mall gift card as a Gift-With-Purchase when they spend $150 or more on cotton merchandise. Limited quantities are available while supplies last. Shoppers are directed to visit mall Guest Services for details. The program will be supported by signage throughout the mall and via Eblasts to subscribers.

Cotton Incorporated, funded by U.S. growers of upland cotton and importers of cotton and cotton textile products, is the research and marketing company representing upland cotton. The Program is designed and operated to improve the demand for and profitability of cotton.

About “Confessions of a Shopaholic”
In the glamorous world of New York City, Rebecca Bloomwood (ISLA FISHER) is a fun-loving girl who is really good at shopping—a little too good, perhaps. She dreams of working for her favorite fashion magazine, but can’t quite get her foot in the door—until ironically, she snags a job as an advice columnist for a financial magazine published by the same company. As her dreams are finally coming true, she goes to ever more hilarious and extreme efforts to keep her past from ruining her future.

ISLA FISHER (“Wedding Crashers”) stars in the film from producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director P.J. Hogan (“My Best Friend’s Wedding”). The screenplay by Tracey Jackson and Tim Firth and Kayla Alpert is based on the books “Confessions of a Shopaholic” and “Shopaholic Takes Manhattan” by Sophie Kinsella. CONFESSIONS OF A SHOPAHOLIC opens in theatres nationwide on Friday, February 13th, 2009.
