Cotton. From Blue to Green.™ Accepts Denim Donation from Gap Inc.

Release Date: Thursday, December 20, 2007

New York, NY - Denim Drive to Aid in Hurricane Relief
Cotton. From Blue to Green.™ received over 9000 pieces of donated denim from leading specialty retailer Gap Inc. to aid in the relief of hurricane-affected families. The denim donated by Gap Inc. will be recycled into insulation for homes devastated by Hurricane Katrina.

“Rebuilding homes in the New Orleans region with recycled denim is an incredibly creative and practical reuse of this material,” said Kindley Walsh Lawlor, senior director of social responsibility for Gap Inc. “Gap Inc. is proud to participate in this project – both by donating unused denim fabric and encouraging our employees to volunteer directly in these efforts. In fact, this January, we’re sponsoring a team of employees to help rebuild homes in New Orleans through Habitat for Humanity.”

In September, Cotton’s Dirty Laundry Tour™ once again hit the road with the Cotton. From Blue to Green. ™ denim drive. The “denim drive” is a call to action to donate old denim and give it “new life” by converting it into natural fiber insulation. This year, approximately 36,000 garments made of denim were accepted and will be turned into UltraTouch Natural Cotton Fiber Insulation that will be contributed to Habitat for Humanity.

“Cotton Incorporated is elated to receive this generous denim donation from Gap Inc.,” states Paula G. Rosario, vice president, consumer marketing - strategic alliances, Cotton Incorporated. “Last year Cotton Incorporated was able to assist Habitat for Humanity of Greater Baton Rouge with providing UltraTouch Natural Cotton Fiber insulation for over 70 houses in the area. This donation from Gap Inc., combined with the denim garments we received through the Cotton. From Blue to Green. drive will provide insulation to be used in building homes throughout the Gulf Coast region.”

A variety of companies will donate their services: Allan Company (www.allancompany.com) will bale the denim, JBM Fibers (www.jbmfibers.com) will process the denim to its original state, cotton; and Bonded Logic, Inc. (www.bondedlogic.com), a leader in natural fiber insulation, will convert the denim into UltraTouch Natural Cotton Fiber Insulation.

Cotton Incorporated, funded by U.S. growers of upland cotton and importers of cotton and cotton textile products, is the research and marketing company representing upland cotton. The Program is designed and operated to improve the demand for and profitability of cotton.
