About the Workshop
This workshop covers basic aspects of denim fabric and denim garment manufacturing. The workshop will highlight conventional and state-of-the-art techniques in denim fabric design and manufacturing techniques. Emphasis in garment finishing will be focused to meet the performance and fashion specifications in today’s market.
Topics Covered
- Basics of denim weaving.
- Indigo ball warp dyeing as related to garment washing effects.
- Indigo slasher dyeing.
- Yarn effects.
- Overdyeing.
- Finishing effects in fabric and garment form include sanding (peaching), brushing, enzyme treatment, stone washing, laser burning, whiskering, color discharge with chemistry, laser discharge, and more.
- Laboratory demonstrations of weaving and garment finishing (Cary only). Actual hands-on experiments will occur in the garment finishing segment.
