Integrated pest management strategies, enhanced technologies have resulted in reduced insecticide applications in the U.S. These technologies are now spreading to the rest of the world.
According to the ICAC, the “indirect benefits of transgenic technology [widely adopted worldwide] include improved populations of beneficial insects and wildlife in cotton fields, reduced pesticide runoff, and improved farm worker and neighbor safety as well as soil-related environmental improvements through changed tillage practices with HT varieties”.
